GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
Safe Period Tracking Apps
Our care team encourages patients to track their menstrual cycles. Yet in a world that continues to evolve to capitalize off individuals’ data, we also encourage everyone to research the tracking application BEFORE USAGE.
Abigail Dubiniecki, a journalist for Forbes magazine explains this issue in her article, “Post-Roe, Your Period App Data Could Be Used Against You” , reminding readers that these health tracking applications “are marketed as health and wellness apps, but the data they collect is not subject to the same privacy protections and laws that apply to physicians or researchers.”
Shoulder Pain and Menopause
While we often associate hormone imbalances with feelings of emotional dysregulation, joint pain is another queue from the body that signals hormone imbalance!
If you are experiencing shoulder pain (Frozen Shoulder), call and make an appointment for a hormone check.
If your provider is unavailable, we can schedule a check in with any of our NDs to provide the lab work necessary.
Understanding the Omega Supplement Labels
Marketing and Product Designers will often use “Total Omegas” to catch the eye of the consumer, but studies on the efficiency of supplementing omegas are NOT based on Total Omegas.
‘Total Omegas’ is the family name of Omega 3s, Omega 6s, and Omega 9s.
The majority of studies done on the efficiency of supplementing omegas look specifically at Omega 3s, which are made up of ALA, EPA, and DHA. For this reason, our providers will most often recommend the Elite Omega.
If you are looking for alternative brands to supplement your Omega levels and want to figure how much Omega 3s make up a product that markets their Total Omegas, remember this equation:

*Nature’s Valley Omega from Costco (Green bottle with a heart on it) is okay.
