Tips for Creating A Self Care Routine

Fall is here, which means it’s time to get back to school and return to routines! As we transition into the new season, this is an excellent time to get organized with our health and self-care. 

Here are four of our favorite tips to get you going in the right direction:

1. Get pillboxes to keep organized.

If you have a lot of supplements and/or medications, it can be helpful to have more than one pill box and split them up based on when you need to take them (Example: a Morning box and an Evening box)

2. Set reminders with alarms.

Set reminders on your phone and/or keep your pillboxes in a location that will encourage you to take your supplements and/or medications.

3. Schedule your exercise and self-care.

As schedules fill up, try to make time for your own mental and physical wellbeing. If it’s on the calendar, it’s more likely to happen. Add it to your schedule just like any other appointment or meeting in your day.

4. Weekly meal prepping.

Dedicate a few hours on Sundays (or a day that works best for you) to prepare all of your meals for the week. It’s a great way to save time and still get nutritious meals during the week without resorting to rushed, and usually less healthy, take out options.

5. Stress Management

Try to build self-care into your weekly schedule and make time for the things that you love. This could be walks outside, playtime with your kids or pets, recreational sports, etc. If it brings joy, it will help reduce your stress.

6. Consider Supplements

As the days grow darker, you may need some extra support to ensure your Vitamin D levels are optimal. A supplement can easily be added into your daily routine.

Supplements like Vitamin C and Zinc are also good ways to arm your immune system if you know that you will have an increased risk of exposure to infections, a tendency to get sick often, or if it takes you seemingly-forever to get over a cold.
